No photos exist of Friday evenings family meal out to welcome Cousin Sean of the UK to our fair shores. He’s here to utilise the South Island ski fields and gather some qualifications along the way: I hope our weather plays ball and provides enough of the white stuff in the right places.
No photos, either, of our laid back lunch with the Kimberlians that leisurely moved from dining table to fireside, dealing to Saturday afternoon in a very satisfactory manner.
I did capture the result of our Saturday morning sheep wrangling (they’ve been let in to trim the chicken coop grass) but, to be fair, it wasn’t arduous. We’re heading into The Hunger Gap and they’ve had their eye on the chicken’s grass bounty for a while now

So, this morning was used to get the jump on next week. While Farm Girl put some study hours in for her Physics midterm, The Engineer caught up on some business bookwork, and The Bean Counter organised the coming week’s firewood, I did my bit to fill the tins.

Because life is much easier when there’s a sweet smackeral at chore’s end.

Love your sunny kitchen! Your weekend sounds utterly delightful. Yes, sweets always make things better chore’s end.
The kitchen is nicely sited for afternoon sun. In winter its lovely, in summer it can be a bit much😊
That is quite a big smackerel. I see that you didn’t waste your time.
Smackerels don’t hang round for long in this house
Your dedication to baking is admirable – yummy!
Life is just a little nicer when tins are full
