One Month Later…

Every so often it all gets a bit much and I need to hunker down for a bit. When we last met, the World Cup (we’re talking football here) was just kicking off, winter was beginning to bite, and I had a To-Do List as long as your arm. Now, The Cup (with its astounding collection of idiocy and quite a lot of sublime football) is a thing of the past, the days are getting longer, I’m another year older, and some stuff has gone from the aforementioned list forever. In the way of these things though, it’s still the same length.

So what’s new?

Much to Colin and Shirley’s delight, Mr Eli is visiting while The Kimberlians hop the pond to check out Chelsea taking on Spurs in the Sydney Super Cup final.

The next stage of the barn yard/vegetable garden revamp has been ticked off; behold our new runner bean patch. Eli is quietly impressed

Speaking of which, for the first time in Union Homestead history, the entire vegetable garden has been weeded,, planted and/or readied for the new season.

And in menagerie news, Ms Daisy the sheep, from the privacy of her own quarters in the barn, been battling a case of possible flystrike/pink eye which has lwft her with very limited vision although her eyes have now cleared.

As usual, life has been a mixed bag: how’s your July been?

  1. I have been thinking about you and was glad to read all is well albeit busy. Wonderful that so much has been accomplished in the garden. Such a good feeling! Give those sweet dogs a pat for me.

  2. Been wondering how you’ve all been doing. Sorry to hear about Daisy’s woes, hope she responds to all the TLC. I’d say Eli fits into the homestead pack just fine. I’d say you were busy getting things done in this offline season, which is impressive since all I ever want to do in winter is hunker down and hibernate with books and tea and chocolate.

    • It’s been quite a busy time one way or another – so much so that by the time I realise I’ve forgotten to photograph happenings it’s too dark outside to rectify things Eli knows the homestead drill and fits in beautifully even though things are a bit weirder here. We were resigned to Daisy having to exit the homestead once her lambs were born but her eyes seem to be clearing and she can definitely see shapes from her right eye. Maybe a miracle is occurring😊

  3. I was staggered to read that 80,000 people attended that match between Chelsea and Spurs.

I hope that the march towards spring brings you lots of good things.
