we knocked the bastard off!” The famous Edmund Hillary quote, on his and sherpa Tenzing Norgay conquering Everest.
I kid myself I know a little of Sir Ed’s joy as I wrenched the final clump of weeds out of the driveway garden.

Colin and Shirley were pleased for me – but perhaps a little shocked at the language

Don’t worry, they’ll be back! There’s always a new set of weeds waiting in the wings. But it is nice to win a battle although the war is never over. I say this as a new crop of weeds encouraged by recent rain make their appearance in my garden. My gardener will never be out of a job.
So true! But for now…rejoice!!! 😊
Well done, you! Always a good feeling of accomplishment even if a little swearing was involved.
Thanks, Laurie. Its an annual task that often gets interrupted by more pressing jobs. I think this is the first time I’ve completed it in “one sitting”.
We are trying to look on weeds as welcome wild flowers wherever we can, but there are still some that need wrenching. Well done!
These were definitely of the wrenching variety
