Powerless

No power to the people (well, four households including the homestead) today as they replace our shared power pole and transformer.

There was a time when this would have spelled utter disaster to me: no stereo, no coffee, no instant heat. Sure, it took a little forward planning to ensure the washing was done, my morning coffee consumed before the switch was flicked, enough water set aside (we use an electric pump to move water around the house and paddocks) to see me through the day, and The Engineer relocated to her desk at the City Campus, but otherwise I pretty much celebrated.

Freedom!

A whole day of no housework obligations for reasons totally beyond my control (and not just because I don’t want to)! Jerseyed and scarfed, singing loudly to myself and the menagerie should they (as Tabitha does) care to lend an ear,

I skipped off to spend the day in the vegetable garden.

And when the switch is flicked back on again, my celebratory coffee is going to taste great!

  1. How much time was devoted to contemplating the garden making mental notes or not thinking much about anything at all? Just absorbing the vibe of growing plants. Is that bee pollinating a zucchini?

    • A lot of gardening time is also spent solving world issues and future planning and, yes, that is a flower on a very frost bitten, sad looking zucchini. It makes no sense.
