Apologies to my international friends as I shine a little light on supporting community and shopping locally. Truth be told, I am feeling a little defeated by the state of our planet right now – the lack of authenticity specifically and, as I’m a great believer in people power, this is my wee effort to showcase a way we can do our bit to reduce miles, reconnect with good folk and keep it real. Oh, and I’m not getting anything for this…authenticity, remember.
Look at what I found just down the road from the Homestead: https://minchinsmilling.co.nz/pages/story
It’s only a flour mill, stone grinding locally grown grain! Order and pay online and you can either pick it up or have it delivered. Google told me it was 13 minutes away

For some reason it took a little longer but, hey, I was in no hurry.
Who would be when there’s this to look at.

Full disclosure: it’s a little pricey – about twice what I usually pay – but I’m going to treat it like what it is: a quality product. No more baking day spills, no more clumsy measuring. Oh, and no more “packed/made in New Zealand from local and imported ingredients” when I have the option of homegrown.

Like they say, down the road at Minchins: Flour to the People!
