BSP #62 – Weather Pros and Cons

Although it was dry when I took the dogs out just after 2am, it obviously hammered down after that. Feed bowls needed upending to avoid breakfast turning to soup and the water butts were once again full to overflowing.

No need to water anywhere but the glasshouse.

Although I really enjoy watering, the time it freed up was a definite bonus.

But there’s always a flip side. When we were farewelling the Tinyhousers on Saturday it was discovered the water butt had froggie inhabitants. Some of them were still tadpoles, a couple were full-blown frogs, but the majority were at that awkward stage between and they didn’t survive the downpour.

I’ve rebuilt the frog island that, over the winter, rough housing dogs had knocked around; the survivors are now safe.

The garden was very appreciative of the soaking. The sweet pea flower was an exciting new addition, the peonies get closer to opening every day and the Solomon’s seal twinkles with raindrops.

But it all got too much for the backdoor rose (ignore the weeds).

But that’s a job for tomorrow.
