No list of triumphs today. No projects undertaken. Sometimes life is just hard and discovering one of our lambs down with flystrike this morning was just a bit too much for me. We treated her, watched her, inspected the two flocks, and then retreated inside for a quiet day. Because sometimes you need to take the day off.
This afternoon at feed time we searched for her in all the usual places the invalids like to hide out; the back of the barn, beside the watertank, along the fence lines…and then we did a recount.

There she is, front and centre! Hanging out with the flock. Could this be a happy ending? The jury’s out.

Admittedly, I had to go look up what Flystrike was. I’ve seen it before, just never heard it called that.
I’m really hoping y’all caught it early enough and she makes a full recovery!
Fingers crossed 🤞
Oh no, flystrike IS nasty. What a thing to have hanging over the day. Fingers crossed she responds to treatment and recovers. Sounds like today at least, she was a fighter.
It’s just one of those things but for me yesterday it was one thing too many.
I hope that the recovery is on.
Tentatively hopeful this morning.
Fingers crossed for a happy ending!
So far, so good
