Saturday in the Making

Saturday is the Homestead day earmarked for getting stuff done. Here’s what was on the list today:

The day started early after a good old everyone-round-the-table dinner out at Madame Kwong’s (showcasing our recently acquired chopstick skills) to celebrate Farm Girl’s Offer of Enrolment from UC. Early because the restaurant’s proximity to the City Campus made staying over a no-brainer, and Colin felt the call of nature as dawn was breaking. Still, it meant we had ample time to trim and tidy the front verge before hitting the road home

On my list for today was polishing and restacking the Homestead bookcase in its new home in the office;. It took much longer than I planned mainly due to my concern over book groupings. The Diary of Anne Frank had me really worried but I settled for popping her in the biographies between Sirs Bob Geldof and Kenny Dalglish. They’d look out for her.

Meanwhile, The Engineer and Bean Counter undertook the scary next stage of the door-to-bedhead project: the sawing to size and rudimentary cleaning.

The Bean Counter then headed out harrow the SW paddock much to the neighbours interest.

I then started giving an aged collection of Tolkien prints a bit of a makeover; two down, four to go.

While through it all, Farm Girl kept the sustenance coming. Dinner is cooking as I peck this out; homemade fish (gurnard this week), chips and, because it is the perfect pairing, green beans.

I hope it’s not too far away; it smells amazing!
