It’s still less than summery at our house

Which makes perfect conditions for ironing (which is, I am told, a dying, futile art) in preparation for the real world starting up again.

I had, after our recent adventure, quite the mountain to scale

but the reward at the summit was worth the graft.

I’ve got a pile of ironing to do….and a pile of chocolate too 🙂
That sounds like you’re well on the way to getting the job done, then 😂
Virtue should be its own reward, we are told, but it doesn’t harm to have a hazelnut block to hand.
Exactly!
My iron got put into a cupboard I can’t actually reach when we moved to this accessible house, and in 4 years, there’s only been one occasion (a shirt for hubby for a funeral) when I felt I needed it. Growing up, my kids thought that gizmo was for melting beads – remember those very un-environmentally friendly bead kits to make doodads for backpacks? Lol. I think it’s rebellion on my part after 16 years of militarily precise creases on naval uniform trousers and shirts….also I got a Whittaker’s Hazelnut block for Christmas (because they cost an arm and a leg here) and I have no plans to iron in order to earn it!
There was no way I was subjecting my iron to that kind of abuse (our beads were melted in the oven 😂) – I’m a bit of a fan of precise creases. You go enjoy that Whittakers! The Hazelnut was the family share block, we also each got one of our very own and I am eeking my dark choc and peppermint out but its not easy
Hi, That pile is about 6 months worth of ironing for me. The pleasure of chocolate bears no relationship to ironing.
It was an unusually large pile for us, too, but ironing isn’t something I utterly loathe, the weather was fitting for the chore and coffee and a few squares of Whittakers was the perfect “carrot”.
