Adventure 2025#7 – Little India

Sensory Overload!

My poor little ol’ brain has had to work overtime decoding its surroundings several times during this visit but all those were nothing compared to the experience that is Little India.

The heat, the smells, the bustle, the colours, the sparkle!

The food! Big believers in honesty being the best policy, we chose our lunch dishes with an eye to our pedestrian digestive systems, fixed our waiter with an imploring look and begged him not to incinerate our insides. He promised he’d look after us and was very true to his word. The food was sublime, the afterglow enhanced the experience. I mean that positively.

We left with very little (but all very precious to us) items in our shopping bag; a combination of us being fussy in how we invest, both large and small, and keeping our shopping list front and foremost. Those vendors are silver-tongued and fast talking…but always fun.

The rain arrived as we waited for our bus.

We hid out in the Shake Shack that sits at our destination bus stop, finally discovering what “concrete” means in a culinary sense (something very, very good), until the worst had passed and then toddled back, via the local supermarket, to spend the evening gossiping over a nibbly supper.

Some of us even had a night swim.

Singapore – my senses will never be the same!
