It’s hard to believe that today a week ago we were roving around Rome
…and now we’re home again.
Back to the garden and the animals;
the Homestead.
It’s lovely to be back in our own beds and to have our own washing machine (isn’t it strange what you miss), but we’re all feeling a bit flat. I guess it’s only to be expected.
We had an amazing time and learnt lots (about the world and about ourselves) and one of those lessons regarded wifi. It seems it doesn’t matter where you are in the world, it is just as fluky in downtown Paris, London and/or Rome as it is in little old New Brighton. It is for this reason that I have a digital pile of blogs written, awaiting wifi reliable enough to allow me to upload the photos…I mean who wants to read this drivel without some pretty pictures to look at?!

Roman Dog Friends
So, over the next wee while I will revisit our great adventure with y’all in mind; a kind of holiday retrospective.

Breakfast on the Terrace
But first, this retelling comes with some apologies.
To all the people we didn’t manage to meet up with, we’re so sorry to have missed you. To all the scenery we slept through; totally our loss.
To the amazing places we neglected to visit; the museums, castles, cathedrals, landmarks that didn’t make our final list; maybe next time.

Sometimes we just needed some down time.
I know how Elsie feels in the final photo. Glad you are home safely. Being back in your own bed is a great feeling. Look forward to seeing all the blog posts as you can. Heading to Levin and Auckland for xmas/new year but not quite to ChCH this time 😦 xxx
I missed my own washing machine almost as much as I missed my bed 🙂
Yes clean clothes while travelling can be a challenge esp when you are not anywhere long enough to line dry – esp as I have a dryer phobia! I am sure that is whats making all my clothes too small 😉
I’d like to blame the driers…sadly I think it has more to do with too many breakfast pastries 🙂
Glad you are safely home though sorry to have missed you in London.
I am very annoyed at myself for being such a shrinking violet; I should have persevered and sent another message rather than assume you were politely disregarding. It was definitely our loss 🙂
I am so sorry we missed each other, never mind these things happen.
Welcome home!
Thanks! 🙂
What a trip! And wherever you go, you must pick and choose. As you wrote, next time! Also, looking forward to reading more about your travels.
It was so worth the scrimping and saving 🙂
Welcome home. Seems to me that since most of us haven’t seen or done everything there is to see/do in our own place, it stands to reason we’re unlikely to see/do it all elsewhere, no matter how much we might travel. But the adventure is in giving it a go, and as you say, there’s always next time :).
Exactly, although I do feel terrible when you strike up a conversation with a city’s native and they make all kinds of recommendations on what you “must see” and then you slink off to hang out on the beach or visit the Doctor Who shop 🙂
Glad you are back, safe and sound. “There’s no place like home” couldn’t be a more true statement…right? I will wait anxiously to see the rest of your travel pics.
Hopefully we don’t disappoint 🙂
Looking forward to those missing posts. You’ll be needing a holiday now to recover.
Pretty much, but we have lots of things to take our mind off our jet lag 🙂
So glad you are all home, safe and sound! I look forward to your further adventures!
Thanks Clare. 🙂
Hi, Your travels will have given Farm Girl a whole new perspective on home schooling. What mega project will she need to complete now she is home? A replica of Rome? A Shakespearean inspired sonnet? A maths project on the numbers of icecreams consumed in Disneyland in a week?
After all your adventures, I am sure the sight of your domestic realm was very welcome.
And as a complete aside, who uses the slide now? The goats or the chooks?
We have one chicken (Sylvia) who very much enjoys the swing (she bends her little chicken legs to make it move) and the slide; Farm Girl goes through phases of interest in it still.
Farm Girl did mini studies on each of the countries we visited so now it will be *her favourite* essays on an aspect of each place. We viewed the trip as a mega field trip 😀
