Adventure 2025#9 – So Long, Singapore

Our last day in Singapore was spent ticking a couple of last minute things off the list. This required a bus ride to Chinatown

firstly to visit Hawker Chan and partake of the world’s first Michelin starred hawker stall and the world’s cheapest Michelin meals (soy sauce chicken rice and soy sauce chicken noodle). Whilst it lost its star in 2021, it still has Bib Gourmand status…and it was delicious. We followed that up with a braised duck dish at Jin Ji Teochew Braised Duck, a place we had seen Anthony Bourdain raving about.

He wasn’t wrong.

We then braved the throng at the market to pick up s few last minute goodies and then, as the thunder started rumbling, boarded our bus back to sit around the pool and await the downpour.

Which took longer than expected to arrive as the first wave passed by us, visibly drenching nearby neighbourhoods while we sat gossiping in the dry.

A meal out (and dessert – this was a special occasion) at a nearby eatery ended our last day in Singapore; but not our adventure.

Onward!
