Today I don’t feel like doing anything, just as Bruno Mars declared in his 2011 classic, The Lazy Song. Well, I say classic which is, in all honesty, over gilding the lily a tad but it was popular enough to enter my consciousness and, again with the honesty, I was simply trying to be current. That was before I looked it up and discovered it was released fourteen years ago. How time flies.
Furtherto and still in keeping with Bruno’s ballad, I really did just want to stay in my bed but because I’m an adult with adult responsibilities including preparing the fifth to last ever school lunch, getting a load of washing on the line now that there was less chance of distributing it to the neighbouring paddocks, and feeding an increasingly vocal menagerie, I did and it’s funny how, once you start moving, you just keep going. That is until you stop again.
Morning tea time. It was so pleasant just sitting in the paddock pondering letting the goats in to nip off the seed heads at some later stage and enjoying the gentle breeze. It took a mighty effort to heave myself out of my chair and and move down the To Do List.

But move I did, getting the little sleepout paddock garden turned over, discovering a coveted potato which I reburied (more on that in a later post) in the process (marking its presence with a handy relic of yesterday’s winds to save me from the planters wrath yet again) and planted a row of laced-by-the-wind lettuce seedlings. Their hardening up experience may have been a little too tough as they were forgotten and left out in the storm. They may thrive, or maybe not; time will tell.
After lunch – again requiring a mighty effort – The Bean Counter, who has the day off today, and I toddled down to Farmlands to replenish the feed bins and, in the process, discovered their shareholder card partner, Bunnings, had set up camp in the carpark and so we came away with all the required feed plus a couple of T Shirts, branded socks, and a sausage in a bun each. Thusly fuelled, I managed transplant a tomato and a couple of companions in the glasshouse.

The reason for this energy flatline? I blame the prep, anticipation, and experiencing of yesterday’s weather event. After being on high alert for a good part of a week, now that it’s been and gone my body just needs to sit still and recharge. Which I’m going to do now but not before I disclose two very good things about today I really should have led with, and – lets face it -would have were I not feeling so lazy:
Today The Farmer celebrates another orbit round the sun – his 30th!

Farm Girl gave a nod to the 1990’s for Spirit Week’s Decades Day.

Nope, today I didn’t feel like doing anything…but, nevertheless, I did.

We all have days like that….
They’re not much fun
Impressed with all that you have accomplished even if what you felt like doing was to stay in bed. Happy, happy to the Farmer. And as always, Farm Girl is adorable.
Lack of enthusiasm is not a nice feeling but thankfully all is feeling brighter this morning
I enjoyed having a look round courtesy of your video.
It gives a different perspective and is utterly warts and all. Nothing is cropped out 😊
Having a day off doing nothing in particular is needed from time to time especially if your batteries need recharging.
Definitely!
