It’s been a super windy Spring; regular deliveries of the kind of gusts that has the poor house grunting on impact. It’s certainly not high on my favourite weather list.

That we’ve received a plethora of ominous weather warnings regarding the ferocity of tomorrow’s “breezes” has me juggling the To Do list. I’m not missing a balmy day in the garden in order to do housework! But before that, I’m just going to check the outside furniture is tucked away, tables inverted, the resource pile secured, and the various strops holding stuff down round the place are taut.

I could do with some help…maybe from an aspiring engineer.

Today’s Spirit Week theme is What I Want to Be When I Grow Up.

A very fetching engineer. I hate high wind, too. Very destructive and knocks the power out for far too long. Best of luck!
Thanks. Its starting to get up a bit now as I wait outside the school in a very wriggly vehicle.
Has the weather vocabulary changed Down Under like it has here? We now get “atmospheric rivers” which I grew up calling “typical rain for late autumn”. Polar Vortex is the new lingo for sib zero winter weather, and we get alarming warnings from the government met service regarding impending gales…winds up to 100km/h, which are indeed alarming but used to also just be called typical November storms…glad your hatches are battened though, it’s amazing how stuff flies around In a storm…there’s always a feed bag or door that gets loose too.
Totally re: weather vocab changing and also every weather event having a name. I think that just encourages them 😊 Im hoping this turns out to be a non-event but currently they’ve declared a State of Emergency in advance. Schools are closed (altho secondary schools were closed due to teachers strike anyway) and were being advised to prepare to lose services. Im really hoping Ive searched out every last feed sack but we both know there’ll be one flapping around.
I looked it up…150km gusts is pretty fierce. Hope all stay safe.
So far so good, but the fire brigade alarm is soundjng at heart-sinkingly regular intervals
Fingers crossed.
Loving the picture of the ‘resource pile’. We have several similar here at The Secret Acre, which I am always being told to ‘clear up that rubbish’. But now I shall make sure everyone knows they are actually important ‘resource piles’!!! :-)))
Rubbish?! How dare they!
We are in for a breezy week but nothing like that. I hope that all your precautions pay off.
So far so good…
