I’m not a fan of rodents. I think, possibly, I may have something that hints at a phobia about them; their scuffley little feet, their speed, their smell…goosebumps! Just ick!
Thus, I was not the biggest fan of Ed and, firstly, Lorraine followed by Cindy and April the guinea pigs when Farm Girl introduced them into the menagerie.

But needs must and Farm Girl is not always available at tending time so I’ve had to step up.
You’re not going to catch me actually touching them any time soon but I can, if they’re on the other side of their firmly latched, closed, house door, step into their run to replenish their food and water bowls and, once I’ve unlatched it (from a distance – its quite an art), lob in a handful of grass for them to enjoy.
I can even say, almost convincingly, that they’re quite *shudder* entertaining with their chattering and enthusiasm for my attention but, kneeling on the ground to take this photo, there’s nothing I can do to stop my heart racing and skin crawling.
But I still did it. See, I’m toughening up!

I’m not keen on rodents too – can’t understand how someone could have a pet rat…..guinea pigs are at least quite cute to look at.
Even the thought…actually even the word “rat”…and, at the end of the day, guinea pigs still move like them they just dont have the tails and have pretty clothes on 😁
I am with you on the smell but guinea pigs are not a problem for me to handle. I wouldn’t want one as a pet though.
Maybe they’re not as bad as rats, but I reckon they’re still on the spectrum.
A phobia is a phobia. I have one of my own—snakes. So I completely understand. With my daughter and husband, it’s spiders. I admire your bravery.
Thank you. We have a couple who can’t handle spiders, too. Both are frustrating as you just know they’re out there…lurking
A phobia is no fun because it can be so irrational – but there’s no denying the involuntary physical response. My vulnerability is sensory over stimulation especially sound. Shopping malls are hell.
I can sympathise as Farm Girl struggles with the lighting in malls. They are, when it all boils down, revolting places if you ask me.
