These are not the words I had set out to publish yesterday. Those ones were fighting back a bit so I was very happy when The Princess dropped by. She currently has charge of the holidaying Queen of Melton (West)’s hounds besides her own two and all were keen for a run in the paddock. Colin and Shirley could not believe their luck.

I happily put aside the uncooperative words for another day and enjoyed the conversation that followed, once all traces of canine exuberance had been dealt to.
This morning I looked to the skies for a hint of wardrobe choice, which left me confused to say the least.

No, this attention to attire is not usual behaviour for me but today two Homesteaders were heading out to get some learning done; first impressions and all that.

Farm Girl to UC to attend Herea tō waka | Welcome Day 2026 lectures on Engineering, UC Thrive: Student Success and Support, and Uni101 and me to the local Baptist Church to take in a U3A meeting and lecture on the New Zealand Garden Bird Survey.
Both of us felt our time had been well invested and plan to spend the evening imparting our newly gleaned knowledge. Watch out, fellow Homesteaders, you have been warned.

Farm Girl is such a lovely young woman. That’s a lot of dogs! Fun for them to have a pasture to romp in.
She is so very capable and considered which makes me very proud. The dogs have a lot of fun together.
The U3A is a fine institution. I hope that you both get full value from your learning opportunities.
