I thought, when I organised for the firewood to be delivered today, we would be able to stow it away at a leisurely pace. I was wrong.
It was dropped off in misty rain.

which slowly grew in intensity along with our efforts to get it out from under the tarpaulin and into the woodshed.

Admittedly, it was only 4 cubic metres (half of our usual order) as we have been seasoning some pretty substantial tree prunings, but it still took the best part of the day.

It’s now absolutely pelting down outside but we’re smiling. Job’s a good’un.

They say that firewood warms you twice…usually referring to the chopping, but I reckon the shifting of that pile got you warm enough despite the rain!
Definitely a shirtsleeves operation…way too warm and steamy for wet weather gear
Well done. You will remember your hard work when the logs are burning in the grate and you will be doubly warmed.
It’s a nice feeling to cross this job off the list
