Australia Zoo!

Although it sounds corny, visiting this place – the home base of the Irwin family and all they stand for – was a dream come true.

Often, when dreams are realised, there’s an aspect of disappointment; idols can often be found to have clay feet. Not this time.

Not once during our visit did I feel the animals were in any way being exploited or their needs compromised.

The place is all about animals and people co-existing

and, as we wandered from area to area, animal to animal, what was overwhelmingly obvious was the authenticity of the folk in the driving seat. I had no problem spending money in the gift shop or buying our lunch (which was delicious) there because it’s obvious that money is plowed straight back into, firstly, the Zoo and, secondly, walking the conservation walk.

Australia Zoo; it’s a special place.

I am glad Australia Zoo lived up to your expectations. The animals have wonderful grounds to wander in – contented grazing rhinos? I see you are still wearing your holiday sandals.
Our holiday sandals have changed my life and that of my family as well. They have done, on average, 19 000 steps per day and I feel utterly safe in them (as long as Ive bug repelled the top of my feet 😊)
That was a heart warming post, and I am deeply impressed by the 19 000 steps a day.
It is a really amazing place. My feet are not so impressed by the number of steps but the sandals are holding on
