I’m still feeling pretty under the weather but a store cupboard emergency had me donning my pinny.Turns out those jars contained Bread and Butter Pickle and that simply won’t *ahem* cut the mustard when it comes to The Bean Counter’s lunchtime sandwiches

Now the last of 2024’s frozen fruit has been made into jam, the pickles have been returned to their rightful pantry place, and the gap on the shelf has been filled.

Hopefully those jars will hold out until the garden delivers or he’s going to have to rethink the menu

Hope those jars hold out!
Me, too. The Bean Counter is very partial to his lunchtime jam sandwiches 🙂
There is nothing to beat homemade jam, but I have never had the opportunity to use home-grown peaches. I am envious.
To be honest, we get a bit sick of them. We’ve got two trees that are very happy so we get a heap but they’re a purple fleshed variety, a bit tart, good for crumbles, cobblers, pies etc but not great straight from the tree
Home made jam – yum! My personal favourite is lemon butter, plus crab apple jelly, plus quince jelly, plus red or black current jam, plus blackberry – I could go on!
Lemon butter is an absolute favourite. I look forward to our little tree producing enough fruit to make it a store cupboard staple.
